Apophia Atukunda

Programs Manager

Apophia Atukunda is a result-oriented, hard-working Environment and Natural Resources Management (ENR) specialist with a strong value system and high sense of integrity and accountability. She is a Corporate and Public Governance enthusiast with special interest in Programming, Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Transformational Leadership. Apophia has worked in the ENR Sector for over two decades and has experience in government, private sector, and NGO spaces, affording her a very rich exposure and experience that brings together knowledge and expertise from different angles of management.

She has all-round exposure having worked with government agencies like UWA and NEMA, Non-Governmental Organisations both at national and international level like ASARECA, the private sector as a consultant offering services to the World Bank (WB) and many other national and international agencies.

Apophia has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry, A Masters Degree in Agriculture (specialising in Agroforestry), and is undertaking a Doctoral Degree in Transformational Leadership at Bakke Graduate University, Dallas, Texas, USA. She has Postgraduate Diplomas in EIA (Nkumba University) and Business Administration (Uganda Management Institute), plus several certificates including in Environment & Sustainable Growth from the University of Kentucky, Strategic Environmental Assessment from the Netherlands Commission for Environmental Services and Wildlife Conservation Society, Social and Environmental Safeguards Training and Project Clinic by the WB, Sustainability Assessment Training by the International Association for Impact Assessment, among many others.

Apophia is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment, a member of the Uganda Association for Impact Assessment, and a member of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas. She is an Oakseed, an alumnus of the Institute for National Transformation (INT), having gone through the Oakseed Executive Leadership Program.

Apophia is a bible scholar and teacher, an avid reader, also interested in knowledge building and spiritual growth movies.

She currently works with Uganda Biodiversity Fund as the Head of Programs.
