African Volunteers Association LTD (AVA), is implementing “Enhancing Plant diversity in Bugoma Forest Landscape in Butoore Parish, Kikuube District” project in Butoole Parish, Kyangwali Sub County, Kikuube District. The project is addressing degradation inside Bugoma Forest reserve by restoring 100 hectares through indigenous tree planting. In addition, it’s setting up a tree nursery bed that will supply 60,000 seedlings per planting season, in addition to setting up a 1-acre botanical garden that will preserve 15 threatened species, next to the forest reserve. For communities outside the reserve, the project is utilizing local radio stations in carrying out conservation aligned sensitization, planting mosquito repellent species in 200 households bordering Bugoma Forest, planting 65 hectares of indigenous tree species in 5 villages border Bugoma Forest and building capacity of the communities in biodiversity conservation.
